Practice Bookkeeper

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our clients Accountancy Practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and preparing accounts up to the trial balance stage. This role requires someone with strong analytical skills and the ability to handle multiple client accounts efficiently. 

Position: Full-Time Permanent
Location: Cork City
Salary: €30-35K DOE

Key Responsibilities:


Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients across various industries.
Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
Reconcile bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts.
Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, providing insights to clients as required.
Complete and file VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements and audit files.
Bring accounts to the trial balance stage for review by senior accountants.
Conduct variance analysis and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Handle client queries, providing accurate and timely support on bookkeeping matters.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations and best practices.



Qualifications and Skills:


Proven experience in a bookkeeping role, preferably within an accountancy practice.
Proficiency in accounting software (such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage).
Strong understanding of VAT and general accounting principles.
Ability to prepare accounts up to trial balance.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage client relationships.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.



Preferred Qualifications:


AAT qualification or similar accounting certification (preferred but not essential).
Experience with cloud-based accounting software and automated financial systems.
Practice experience (preferred but not essential)
