On behalf of our client, a leading healthcare company, we are currently recruiting for a Renal Staff Nurse for Wexford Town. This is a permanent role. This is a 37.5 hour week, shifts over Mon-Sat, rotated.

Will work as part of a Dialysis Team and will take personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that policies and procedures are known and followed and will ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practices set out in Irish National Nursing Council (INNC).

Key roles and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

Ø Organise and participate in the delivery of high standards of evidence based nursing care.

Ø Take regular responsibility to carry out required planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision in accordance with established nursing procedures and policies.

Ø To report to the appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team any significant changes in a patient’s condition or situation.

Ø To contribute towards health promotion for all patients by providing education, support and advice, as necessary. Ensure referral to appropriate professionals or agencies as required.

Ø Escort patients who require help to their transport.

Ø To take personal responsibility for ensuring that patients are treated with courtesy at all times, the individual needs of patients are respected and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Ø To be responsible for ensuring provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues.

Ø Ensure the readiness for use of special equipment and the availability of nursing supplies in conjunction with the senior ward nurses.

Ø Report to nurse in charge/line manager all complaints, incidents or accidents involving self, staff, patients, visitors and complete relevant documentation according to clinic procedure.

Ø To have detailed knowledge of Manual handling regulations particularly with regards to the moving and handling of patients. To be responsible for ensuring that assessment of patient’s manual handling needs are carried out.

Skills & Experience Requirements:

Ø Registered Nurse with current INMB PIN to practice.

Ø Completion of training for additional clinical skills required in the unit i.e. IV drug administration/cannulation & venipuncture.

Ø Evidence of an ability to critically appraise and utilise research to maintain and improve patient care.

Ø Excellent written and verbal skills –Must be fluent in English.

Ø Ability to build good relationships with patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues by developing rapport, communicating clearly and accurately, active listening and the ability to empathise. The post-holder must have the ability to refer to senior staff as required.

Ø Ability to recognise and diffuse potentially difficult situations in relation to patients, carers or members of the multidisciplinary team.

Ø Organisational skills for co-ordination and provision of care needs of patients using initiative, time management, leadership and problem solving skills.

Ø Ability to work as part of a team.

Ø Ability to provide verbal and generate and computer written reports on the patient’s condition for nurses and professionally qualified workers.

Ø Demonstrate teaching and presentation skills to enable active participation as a mentor for students and to promote an effective learning environment.
