ESB is a purpose-led company striving to create a brighter future for the customers and communities we serve, leading the transition to reliable, affordable, low-carbon energy. Today, we operate one of the most progressive electricity systems in the world, with activities spanning electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Great Britain, and an international energy consulting business.

With almost 8,000 employees, we invested €1bn in infrastructure last year, contributed over €2bn to the economies we operate in, and distributed over €2m across a range of community initiatives. This requires us to bring the best of our capabilities together to deliver innovative and value-driven solutions that enable our customers to live low-carbon lives. ESB strives to foster an effective and inclusive culture where people engage, challenge, and feel connected to our purpose, colleagues, customers, and community.

Position Description

With thousands of kilometres of fibre optics, almost 100 radio sites, and over €100 million of hardware and software, the management of Networks Telecoms assets is a critical part of our business. We are looking for someone with expertise in GIS technologies to deliver high-quality GIS products and innovations, produce network drawings and maps across a range of telecommunications technologies, and telecommunications infrastructure projects within Networks Telecoms. The development of the systems and processes needed to accurately capture information on assets throughout their lifecycle is also an important part of the role.

Telecommunications are transforming our lives in the way we live and work and are essential to the remote management of systems and assets. ESB's Networks Telecoms group has 100 staff providing the critical operational telecom networks needed to deliver the broadband and data circuits required to control the distribution, transmission, and generation systems.

As a result, a number of exciting roles have become available for candidates looking to be part of the innovations and work needed to build the next generation IT & Telecom Networks for the organization.

- Create, modify, maintain, and analyze geospatial databases.
- Take ownership of the GIS tools used across Networks Telecoms and assist in the development of an integrated solution for their use across the teams.
- Develop the processes to embed the utilization of the GIS tools in all planning, design, and delivery activities.
- Respond to requests for the use of geographical information systems and production of maps and illustrations for special projects.

Experience and Qualifications

- The candidate should have 2 years relevant experience in the field of GIS and geospatial database applications or GIS related third-level qualification.
- Experience working in an electrical, telecoms, or technology group in a project or leadership role.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- A relevant Asset Management qualification such as GIS would be desirable.
- IT skills (including Microsoft Office applications).
- Experience in the procurement of services including specifications, tenders, contracts, and supplier management.

- Credit Union.
- Access to staff well-being programs.
- Generous parental leave entitlements.
