Job Description Role Purpose This post is initially to work on Assessment of Need assessments for children and the post will transition fully onto the CDNT team. The Senior Occupational Therapist will work as a member of the interdisciplinary team in collaboration with MDT colleagues providing services to children from 0-18 years and families who are accessing the Children's Disability Network Team. The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of an occupational therapy service to include assessment diagnostics and intervention and ongoing service delivery to children with complex needs and their families. The Senior Occupational Therapist will take a lead role in key areas of service development, reporting to the CDNT manager. Professional clinical supervision will be provided. The ability to manage and prioritize a busy caseload, and work in an inter-disciplinary way using a family centered practice approach are also keys requirements of the role. It is an opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills and be a positive influence on shaping services within the CDNT. Key Responsibilities Participate in the Assessment of Need (AON) process as assigned, working as part of an AON sub team within the CDNT for initial period. Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and review of occupational therapy intervention programmes for children supported by the Children's Disability Network Team. This is needs-based and focussed on achieving outcomes that are defined and prioritised by the child and their family through the Individual Family Service Plan meeting. Attend and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure integrated goal setting and support for children and their families. Prioritise caseload based on clinical needs of the child and as agreed with the family through an IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan). D ocument all assessments, intervention plans, progress notes, and reports in accordance with professional standards. Arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service users and in line with service policy/guidelines. Maintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit as appropriate. Become familiar with and work in accordance with relevant HSE policies, HIQA standards, Progressing Disabilities, legislation and professional policies, guidelines, and requirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service delivery. Promote a culture that values equality, diversity, and respect in the workplace. Become familiar with the key National policy documents for children disability services such as the National Access policy, National policy on prioritization of referral among others. Work in accordance with relevant HSE policies, Assessment of Need SOP, HIQA standards, and professional policies, guidelines and requirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service delivery. In conjunction with the CDNM, contribute to the development and implementation of procedures, policies and guidelines while adhering to existing standards and protocols. Work within limits of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance. Undertake Key Worker role as required. Represent the department / profession / team at meetings and conferences as designated by the CDNM. Supervision of Basic Grade OT's and student OT's as appropriate. Role Requirements Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy Studies or equivalent qualification. Professional Qualifications received outside the Republic of Ireland including the U.K must be validated by the Validation unit of CORU prior to commencement of employment.
