Job Purpose
Fexco Tech are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Developer to join our dynamic engineering team. You will work on a range of products that demand a differing level of competency across a broad technology stack within a collaborative and empowering and creative environment.
This role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis with the opportunity to work from our offices based in Kerry with flexibility to work a hybrid/remote model.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Be responsible for designing, developing and deploying cloud native software applications which includes Continuous Delivery/Deployment pipelines and all aspects involved.
Play a pivotal role in architectural decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business goals.
Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, ensuring the right tools & frameworks are being used in the right place at the right time.
Design and evolve highly available systems that support secure, high-volume financial transactions and real-time payment flows.
Guide, mentor, and upskill engineering teams, promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Drive the adoption of asynchronous communication patterns across distributed systems to ensure flexibility, fault-tolerance, and performance in complex payment ecosystems.
Ensure security best practices are upheld in design & development, aligning with company and regulatory standards.
To enable robust & performant deliverables, must ensure that non-functional requirements are addressed as part of the software development lifecycle.
Manage any Technical Debt, ensuring that potential risks are identified early and addressed proactively.
Embrace & encourage R&D initiatives, emerging technologies and keep abreast of new frameworks, tools and programming languages.
Contribute to the overall technology strategy and roadmap, identifying opportunities for architectural improvements or shifts in technology.
Add value in all stages of project/support work from definition, development and deployment.
Required Skills & Experience
A minimum of 7 years’ experience in Cloud -native application, design and development, with Azure as a core platform.
Deep understanding of architectural design patterns, including enterprise integration patterns, and how to apply them to cloud-based deployments for optimal scalability and performance.
Expertise in designing software solutions leveraging asynchronous messaging patterns and Event Driven Architecture ensuring decoupled, scalable, and resilient systems.
Strong knowledge of distributed systems design , including idempotency, eventual consistency, and replay/recovery mechanisms.
Preferred:
Experience in containers and orchestration with Kubernetes.
Experience managing data with SQL, No-SQL, Data Warehousing, etc.
Knowledge and experience in Lean, Agile and Scrum methodologies
BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
Experience in financial services or payments domain is a strong advantage.
Ability to manage a diverse workload under pressure, while maintaining autonomy and focus.
Ability to balance innovation with pragmatism in delivering critical payment and transaction services.
Strong communication and collaboration skills in a fast-moving agile environment.
Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with others.
Must have strong verbal, written and organizational skills and strong customer focus.
Willing to participate in on-call rotations/incident response on rare occasions.
