Cork, Ireland University College Cork (UCC) Full time

18 Months, Fixed-Term, Whole-Time Post Position Summary The School of Law, University College Cork seeks a highly motivated and dynamic Post-Doctoral Researcher to join the interdisciplinary BoDIESS project. Open to EU and non-EU applicants, this 18-month Post-Doctoral Researcher position is part of a Taighde ireann/Research Ireland-funded project that will explore changing societal attitudes towards body disposal in Ireland, and industry and regulatory responses to these changing attitudes. A significant portion of the role will be dedicated to conducting both qualitative and quantitative empirical research (e.g. surveys and interviews) with community members, funeral industry professionals, and government employees. This work will take place across the Republic of Ireland, and the position will involve an amount of travel within the country. The successful candidate will ideally be physically based at University College Cork, Ireland within the School of Law, and will have the option to be associated with the Radical Humanities Laboratory. They will be proficient in community-engaged empirical research and ideally have an interest in and understanding of key themes and trends in modern funerary practice and scholarship. They will also be excellent communicators with experience managing projects independently. Additional experience and knowledge in either socio-legal studies or environmental science would be highly valued, although is not required. The appointee will work directly with PIs at UCC and will be expected to engage with a range of national stakeholders. Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Associatio n Project Title: Making Body Disposal in Ireland Environmentally and Socially Sustainable: A Multi-Input Review ('BoDIESS') Post Duration: 18 Months Salary: €46,306 - €52,863 p.a.
