Job Title: Senior Compliance Manager Location: Vision Ireland Head Office, Whitworth Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 Working arrangements: Monday - Friday with hybrid option available Reports to: Chief Financial Officer and/or their designee Contract: Full-time, Permanent Closing date: 17th March 2025 About Us Vision Ireland is Irelands national sight loss agency. We are a not-for-profit charitable organisation which provides support and services nationwide to people experiencing sight loss. We provide a variety of services to support and improve accessibility to people who are living with sight loss ranging from emotional support and counselling to employment support and rehabilitation training. Our mission is to enable people who are blind and vision impaired to overcome barriers that impede their independence and participation in society. We have over 130 Stores retail stores , 370 employees and 1,100 volunteers. Role Overview The Senior Compliance Manager will play a key role in ensuring that Vision Ireland meets its regulatory, ethical, and operational obligations. The role involves overseeing compliance with Irish charity law, GDPR, fundraising regulations, governance codes, and internal policies. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, the board, and external stakeholders to ensure a culture of compliance and best practice across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with the Charities Regulator and other regulator companies Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, and best practice guidelines affecting the charity sector. Lead on the implementation and monitoring of the Charities Governance Code and other relevant frameworks. Ensure appropriate risk management processes are in place and integrated into decision-making. Policy Development & Implementation Develop, review, and update policies related to governance, Provide guidance and training to management team and others on compliance-related topics such as Data Protection & GDPR Compliance Act as the organisations Data Protection Officer (DPO) to ensure GDPR compliance. Implement policies and procedures to safeguard personal data and respond to data breaches. Conduct periodic data protection impact assessments and training for staff. Risk Management & Internal Audits Develop and implement a compliance risk assessment framework. Conduct internal audits and spot checks to ensure adherence to policies and regulations. Report risks and compliance issues to senior management and the board, with recommendations for corrective action. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities may evolve over time. Key Requirements Essential: Professional qualification in compliance, governance, or risk (e.g., ICSA, ACAMS, CIPD) is preferred. Bachelors degree in law, business, governance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years experience in a compliance, governance, or risk management role. Strong knowledge of Irish charity law, governance codes, GDPR, and financial regulations. Proven experience in policy development, risk assessment, and internal audits. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and train staff at all levels. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Desirable: Experience in the nonprofit or charity sector. Familiarity with fundraising regulations and ethical fundraising practices.
