I am now seeking on behalf of my client a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead projects from concept to completion, mentor junior engineers, and help shape the next generation of building performance and efficiency. About the Role As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, youll take ownership of mechanical design delivery across multiple projects, collaborating with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to create intelligent, resilient, and sustainable engineering solutions. Youll bring technical expertise, leadership, and creativity, ensuring quality, innovation, and client satisfaction at every stage. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical services design from concept through to construction and handover. Develop and specify mechanical systems for building services projects (HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, and associated systems). Oversee quality assurance of all deliverables before submission to clients. Provide detailed tender documentation, reports, and recommendations. Collaborate closely with project teams and clients to refine scopes and ensure alignment with objectives. Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth. Stay informed about emerging sustainable technologies and their applications within modern design. Key Projects Hyperscale Data Centre Campus €500M: Full mechanical design for a multi-phase hyperscale data centre campus, featuring advanced cooling systems, waste-heat recovery integration, and high-efficiency plant layouts for reduced PUE. Colocation Data Centre €250M: Delivery of mechanical services for a next-generation data centre incorporating modular design principles, chilled water systems, and scalable capacity for rapid expansion. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility €120M: Mechanical and HVAC system design for a GMP-compliant production and laboratory facility, ensuring precise temperature and air quality control to meet stringent industry standards. Requirements Honours degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (Chartered or working towards chartership). 7+ years experience delivering projects within Data Centres, High-Tech, Industrial, Commercial, or Healthcare sectors. Strong working knowledge of CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, and EN standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam; experience with other analysis tools an advantage. Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills. Proven experience managing and coordinating engineering teams through all project stages.
