Dublin, Ireland finmid Full time

About finmid

At finmid, we envision a future where access to capital for SMEs becomes seamless and deeply integrated into the software platforms that businesses are run on. We build the infrastructure that enables platforms to transform how financing is accessed and distributed, allowing businesses to thrive without friction, barriers, or interruptions. We believe the key to solving capital access for SMEs lies in connecting the most effective sources of funding and leveraging data to minimize the cost of capital, with the most effective distribution channels while providing a 10x better UX than other financial institutions.

As we expand our reach across Europe, we are establishing a team in Ireland. This strategic move integrates the technological strength of our parent company with local expertise to deliver exceptional, compliant, and innovative financing solutions. Our mission remains clear: to bridge the gap between demand and supply of capital with a foundation built on transparency, trust, and transformative financial services.

About the opportunity

We are looking for a Compliance Manager to lead our compliance & AML function for the newly established subsidiary in Ireland. As a key leadership team member, you will be responsible for navigating regulatory and legal frameworks, providing strategic advice, and ensuring compliance with Irish and European regulations and laws. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the compliance strategy of a fast-growing fintech that is redefining access to capital. You will be supported at all times from our legal team based in Berlin.

In this role, you will:

- Design and build the compliance function within the Irish entity from scratch. We are only getting started, so have a lot of freedom in how you want to tackle this challenge.

- Establish and oversee all compliance & AML operations in Ireland, ensuring alignment with European regulations and local legal requirements.

- Provide strategic input and advise the senior management team on legal and regulatory risks associated with our services, corporate governance, and strategic initiatives.

- Support of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including user terms, commercial contracts, partnership agreements, among others.

- Ensure that our Group’s Irish operations are in compliance with the Irish Central Bank and European requirements, including ongoing oversight of any licensing requirements and reporting obligations.

- Draft and implement policies and procedures to manage legal risks, data protection, and conflicts of interest.

- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries as needed.

What you need to be successful (requirements):

- Extensive Compliance Experience: A proven track record in building and operating compliance & AML functions in financial services, fintech, or comparable sectors. Background in professional services is considered as comparable experience. First-hand experience with payment services is a significant advantage.

- Expertise in Financial Regulations: Solid understanding of Irish and European financial & AML regulations and a keen ability to navigate compliance requirements.

- Educational Background: Either (i) Law degree or (ii) professional education in a bank with 5+ years of experience in compliance & AML. A professional qualification in Irish law and bar admission in Ireland is a huge plus.

- Contract and Policy Expertise: Exceptional ability to draft and develop internal legal & compliance frameworks.

- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing external counsel, regulators, and other critical relationships.

- Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey compliance concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

- Regulatory Strategy: Strategic thinker with the ability to align compliance & AML considerations with business objectives and long-term growth.

- Adaptability and Initiative: Willingness to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

- Balanced Vision: Skilled at aligning immediate business needs with long-term strategic goals, ensuring sustainable growth.

Benefits:

- Though generally we see ourselves as “distributed first”, this role is based out of Ireland where you can work remote or on-site.

- We are flexible and cover whatever you need to be as productive as possible.

- Home office stipend.

- 30 days time off.

- Meaningful equity.

- Open-minded and transparent culture that includes regular get together meetings (e.g. All Hands, Brown Bag Lunch, Offsites)

We're looking for people with passion, grit and integrity. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. We welcome diverse perspectives and people who think out of the box and aren't afraid to challenge assumptions. Join us.
