Field Engineer – ICT Infrastructure & Communications Support
Location: Multiple Locations across Ireland (Onsite / Field-Based)
Contract Type: 12-Month Contract (with potential extension)
Overview
We are seeking experienced Field Engineers to provide hands‑on support for a wide range of ICT and communications systems across multiple sites. This role involves maintaining and supporting critical infrastructure, including communications mast systems, control room technologies, telephony, networking, and end‑user devices. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Skills and Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in ICT infrastructure, communications, or field engineering support.
Proven experience in the operation and support of communications mast infrastructure .
Experience supporting control room technologies , such as CCTV, emergency call‑taking, and radio dispatcher systems.
Hands‑on experience with desk‑based telephony deployment , configuration, and user support.
Working knowledge of Unified Communications and Video Conferencing systems, including configuration of IP details, protocols, and custom settings.
Experience supporting Cisco Unified Communications, Mitel, Avaya, and Polycom systems.
Strong experience in network patching and collaboration with technical teams to resolve network and connectivity issues.
Familiarity with routers, switches, transceivers , and LAN/WAN environments.
Understanding of network security and communication room standards , including racks, cabling, air conditioning, UPS, and power.
Experience installing and maintaining printers and scanners , including IP configuration and protocol setup.
Hands‑on experience with PC and laptop deployment , including IP configuration, imaging (Windows 10/11), and domain setup.
Support experience with Virtual Desktop Environments (VMware Horizon) and smart devices (iOS & Android) .
Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Ability to provide skills transfer and mentoring to internal teams.
Previous experience in field‑based ICT support roles within large or critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver on‑site technical support across multiple locations, ensuring systems and services remain fully operational.
Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for communication systems, telephony, and network infrastructure.
Assist with installation, configuration, and upgrades of ICT and end‑user equipment.
Work collaboratively with cross‑functional ICT teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Maintain detailed technical documentation and contribute to ongoing infrastructure improvement.
Provide weekly status updates and progress reports on assigned work.
Support knowledge transfer to in‑house teams for long‑term operational continuity.
Ensure consistent connectivity and optimal performance across end‑user environments.
