Join our team and help build innovative security services that actively detect and mitigate cyber threats across Amazon's cloud infrastructure and customer services in real-time. You'll work alongside data scientists, security engineers, and software developers to develop cutting-edge mitigation solutions that proactively protect every AWS customer from emerging threats at a massive scale.
We’re looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, empathetic, curious, motivated, reliable, and able to work effectively with a diverse team of peers. We want someone who will help us amplify the positive & inclusive team culture we’ve been building.
We understand that life is dynamic and we have a flexible work environment that enables individuals to adjust their work schedule to accommodate personal needs. Our team is distributed, though most of the team is located in Maryland and Virginia. We generally keep core business hours of 9:30 EST - 4:30 EST, while allowing flexibility as needed. At AWS Security, it’s not about clocking hours, it’s about delivering results.
On-Call Responsibility
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Successful applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland.
2. Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.
A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer on the AWS Security Mitigation Services team, you'll create services that enable automated mitigation of security threats detected across AWS infrastructure. You'll collaborate with detection teams to develop mitigation capabilities that can stop threat actor activity as it's happening. Your work will leverage AWS's breadth of services to build scalable, real-time mitigation solutions. Additionally, you will build and tune models for analyzing the potential risks of taking security actions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
