Sr. Software Development Engineer, Alexa Audio
Note: We are flexible on location for this role to be either in Bangalore or Chennai.
As Alexa Audio, we own the audio experiences on Alexa enabled devices. These experiences include Music, Podcast, Audio Books, Radio, and Ambient soundscapes. Our integration skill kits enable seamless integration of 1P / 3P audio content providers (e.g., Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple etc.) with Alexa devices. Audio is one of the most widely used experiences on Alexa, and is enjoyed by millions of customers on a daily basis.
We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented software engineer who has experience building innovative, mission critical, high volume applications that customers love. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of Alexa features that are used every day by people you know.
The ideal candidate is clearly passionate about Alexa and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast.

Key job responsibilities
1. Provide technical leadership to the team of engineers
2. Lead development and maintenance of key system features
3. Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
4. Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against strict timelines.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2. 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
3. 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
4. Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
3. Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered
4. Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
5. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
6. Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
