Join a Leading Innovator in Sustainable Cooling Technology
Your New Company
Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing multinational manufacturing company based in Little Island, Cork. With over 25 years of success in Ireland, they specialize in producing cutting-edge, environmentally sustainable cooling solutions for global tech giants, including companies with large-scale data centers like Meta. Renowned for their reliability, quality, and exceptional aftercare service, they support mission-critical applications for blue-chip multinational tech firms worldwide.
Currently employing 140 staff across two Cork facilities, they are now seeking a Mechanical R&D Engineer to join their expanding Research & Development team at their Little Island plant.
Your New Role – Mechanical R&D Engineer
As a key member of the R&D department, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and testing next-generation cooling solutions for data centers. Reporting to the R&D Director, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge innovation while collaborating with a cross-functional team. Given the company's impressive growth trajectory, this standalone role has the potential to evolve into a leadership position, allowing you to build and lead your own team in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative cooling solutions for data centers, leveraging your expertise in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Support production and implementation phases by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance.
- Participate in design reviews, ensuring that solutions meet both performance and sustainability requirements.
- Work closely with the R&D lab team to perform performance testing and validation on prototypes, documenting results and refining designs accordingly.
- Assist with prototype builds to gain hands-on insights into design effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Why Join This Company?
- Be Part of a Growing Success Story – Join a company that has consistently expanded over the past five years and continues to push the boundaries of cooling technology.
- Work with Global Tech Leaders – Our client partners with some of the world's most influential technology companies, making a tangible impact on critical infrastructure.
- Diverse and Engaging Work – Unlike larger corporations where roles can become highly specialized, this medium-sized operation offers variety and the opportunity to wear multiple hats.
- Excellent Compensation & Benefits – Enjoy a competitive salary of €50,000 - €65,000 DOE, plus a pension scheme and 25 days of annual leave.
What We're Looking For
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within an OEM environment.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and other relevant design software.
- A solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
- Experience working with HVAC components and systems.
- Hands-on experience with prototype development, testing methodologies, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of sheet metal, piping systems, and process cooling water systems design.
Take the Next Step
If you're an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for an opportunity to make a real impact, work on exciting projects, and progress your career within an innovative and supportive environment, we'd love to hear from you.
