This position is to help manage the optimisation, integration & customisation of security technologies within the Security Services department and have the opportunity to develop your skills in Security Technologies.

Team Background

This role sits within our Cyber Services team and reports to our Senior Security Engineer. This team has oversight/responsibility for Security Advisory, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, Forensic Investigations and Security Engineering. This role will be primarily to assist the Engineering function but also to support tasks within the wider Team.

What you will help us to achieve

As a Junior Security Engineer this role will involve:

1. Acting as the Junior subject matter expert to assess the implementation of security solutions.
2. Support the Senior Security Engineer to manage the impact of change in relation to technology, products, processes and legislation and assist the team in implementing the change.
3. Assist the Senior Security Engineer in the implementation of Security solutions.
4. Support the wider security teams in the developments of designs, roadmaps, checklists and documentation.
5. Close out any project tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
6. Security Infrastructure Capacity Planning & Management.
7. Attend project meetings and maintain strong relationships.
8. Champion and Support projects in the Security Management area.
9. Work as part of the Cyber Services Team and ensure delivery of Tasks.
10. Seek opportunities to automate, improve service and productivity.

What you will need to be successful in the role

1. Good experience in security engineering and solutions.
2. Good understanding of the major networking protocols (IPv4/IPv6/TCP/UDP/DNS/SMTP).
3. An understanding of the major operating systems.
4. An understanding of enterprise business applications, networks and systems.
5. Good level of critical security technology configuration and implementation.
6. Good information security skills (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability).
7. Good skills in change and configuration management.
8. Good troubleshooting skills.
9. An understanding of enterprise organizations.
10. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
11. Recommended Industry certifications (CompTIA Security +, CompTIA Network +, CEH or similar).
12. Recommended vendor certification (CCNA Security, MCSE, Red Hat Expert Level).
13. Keeps abreast of developments in the IT field and readily shares, applies and promotes new learnings.
