Job Description
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the Food Safety and Quality Systems are maintained and followed across the site and all products fully confirm with all the relevant Customer, BRC, Bord Bia, Quality & Food Safety standards and specifications.
Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities The primary accountabilities and responsibilities of this role are listed below. This is not an exhaustive list and can be expanded and amended in response to business needs.
Develop, implement and maintain the site Food Safety & Quality Management System, to ensure compliance with Quality & Food Safety standards – e.g. Bord Bia, Global Gap, SFPA etc.
Oversee the Quality Control system and related processes and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and standards.
Promote and develop a culture where Quality and Food Safety take precedence. Implement effective communications, toolbox talks, etc. to ensure employees are kept informed.
HACCP - conduct an annual review of risk assessments and ensure it is updated as required to account for any changes or new processes, etc.
Lead the Annual Management Review of the Quality system and ensure actions are recorded and addressed.
Maintain compliance with existing and proposed legislation and regulations in all geographies where our products are sold, e.g. labelling, product traceability, allergens, materials in contact, risk management etc.
Develop and manage effective, positive relationships with Customers, ensure their expectations are clearly understood across the organization and address customer issues related to quality and food safety.
Manage Internal Audit program and lead external Audits. Communicate Audit Findings to Management, compile responses and ensure all non-conformances are addressed in line with Audit requirements.
Support R&D, New Product Development to ensure Quality and Food Safety are intrinsic to their processes and initiatives.
Conduct an annual Supplier Audits and manage, analyze and report on supplier performance - identify all supplier issues /defects etc., investigate and address any supplier non-conformances or issues, in conjunction with the relevant manager.
Maintain effective Document Control of all revisions of documents policies, procedures and records as appropriate.
Manage and ensure effectiveness of programs for Pest Control, cleaning, sampling, calibration etc.
Oversee and co-ordinate employee training programs, in conjunction with the production department. Ensure Work Instructions are maintained and utilized for training.
Develop and deliver training for employees including induction, HACCP, Food Safety, Hygiene and Health & Safety programs.
Manage incoming raw material/product specifications and certificates of Analysis.
Maintain quality, food safety and technical records as required.
Conduct/lead root cause analysis and ensure implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrences of non-conformances with Quality and Food Safety standards.
Person Specification: In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have the following knowledge, experience and competencies:
Knowledge Education /Experience A Level 8 Degree in Food Science or related discipline.
A minimum of 3+ years’ experience working in a similar Quality / Technical Management in a food processing business.
Experience of developing and implementing Food Safety, ISO, BRC standards.
Skills and Key Competences: Results driven - proven record of effectively managing projects, managing personal worktime to meeting deadlines and commitments and manage priorities.
Problem Solving – root cause analysis, sound decision-making process
Interpersonal communication – develop positive relationships with team and other stakeholders, win respect and support and influence, build collaboration with other departments.
Customer Relationship Management – responsive, calm, effective, negotiation, commercial savvy.
Self-Assurance – consistent, stand firm to maintain standards.
Computer skills – competence in Microsoft Applications – Excel, Word, Email
High level of competence in English (verbal and written)
