Arising from increased levels of activity and an ever-expanding tax controversy landscape, Deloitte have an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Manager/Manager to join the Tax Controversy team in any of Deloitte's offices nationally. About the Team Deloitte's growing Tax Controversy team provides advice and tactical support throughout the tax controversy life-cycle: from proactive tax risk management to tax audit/intervention management through to tax dispute resolution. As an emerging specialism, the team provides an integrated service in collaborating with our colleagues across the tax practice and servicing clients across the tax heads. The team provides advice and support to a wide range of clients across a wide range of sectors . As a Manager/Assistant Manager in the Tax Controversy team, you will help our clients prevent and manage tax risk and navigate interactions with the Revenue Commissioners and the Tax Appeals Commission. About the Opportunity Consulting and liaising with the service lines and/or clients on proactive tax risk management, tax audits/interventions and tax appeals to build effective long-term relationships. Researching and analysing a broad range of tax issues to assist in developing controversy management strategies. Reviewing the tax issues under Revenue scrutiny and supporting audit readiness assessments. Drafting communications in the tax intervention and tax appeal process and attending meetings with clients and the Revenue Commissioners. Opportunity to attend hearings at the Tax Appeals Commissioners may also arise. Supporting in the preparation of pre-hearing documents in the tax appeal process. As a key contributing stakeholder, you will support growth initiatives to develop the tax controversy service offering and supporting continuous improvement in internal work practices. Overseeing the work of team members at associate level and playing a key coaching role in the development of the associate group. Presenting in-house training courses and assisting with client presentations as required. Assisting in the client engagement process. About You Tax qualification required. Legal and/or accountancy qualification would be advantageous, but not required. Experience across more than one tax head preferable but not required. Experience in Revenue Interventions and tax risk management is preferable, but not essential. Willingness to upskill, learn and work with new and unfamiliar issues and information. Ability to explain technical concepts in a concise and straightforward manner to non-tax professionals and clients. Excellent interpersonal, IT, communication, data management and project management skills. Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team spread across offices.
