The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and development of our clients new modular product line. This position will be responsible for creating innovative designs that meet industry standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, experience in modular systems or similar, and a deep understanding of product development cycles. This role is integral to ensuring that the new product line meets both technical and commercial objectives, while adhering to quality and safety regulations.

- Lead the design and development of modular units intended to house critical infrastructure, ensuring designs meet technical, functional, and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including structural, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and specifications for modular systems using CAD software.
- Perform design calculations and simulations to ensure product safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Evaluate and select materials, components, and technologies to optimize the performance and cost of the modular units.
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are feasible for production and provide technical support during the manufacturing process.
- Review and approve design documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality standards.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project timelines, ensuring that deliverables are met within the agreed deadlines.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to modular construction and critical infrastructure.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within modular construction, prefabricated structures, or similar industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software particularly Revit
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, material properties, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience in the design of modular systems, housing units, or critical infrastructure components is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in performing stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other engineering calculations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with industry standards and regulations related to modular systems, safety, and critical infrastructure.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and the capability to mentor junior engineers and design staff.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience in the steel industry or working with steel structures.
- Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency practices in modular design.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) principles
