As a Group Project Accountant, youll join the central Finance function and support strategic financial initiatives across the business. This role is pivotal in enabling strong financial planning, reporting and governance in a dynamic environment with significant national impact. About the Team The organisations finance structure includes embedded divisional teams reporting into the CFO, as well as a centralised Finance unit responsible for financial control, shared services (payroll, AR, AP, procurement), treasury, pensions, and regulatory reporting. You'll be working closely with the Financial Controller, CFO, and wider senior stakeholders on finance projects of strategic importance. Key Responsibilities Support month-end and year-end close activities and deliver key financial reports to internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and review capital project journal entries and associated board reporting. Deliver detailed variance analysis (budget/forecast vs. actual) and assess implications for future trends. Conduct in-depth financial analysis and modelling to support senior leadership decision-making. Drive the development of reporting and analytics frameworks in collaboration with the Data & Analytics team. Lead and co-ordinate financial investigations and analysis of key areas of business performance. Represent the Finance function in cross-functional project teams and advocate for financial integrity and insight. Provide direct support and strategic input to the CFO on high-priority initiatives including capital investments, audit transitions, and public sector engagements. About You Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience, ideally within a professional services firm. Excellent analytical and commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insight. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with exposure to Power BI and working with large datasets. Demonstrated experience in process improvement, project management, and financial governance. Strong communicator with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Experience in sectors such as media, public service, or with regulatory bodies is advantageous but not essential.
