Role Sumary The role is responsible for preparing vehicles for the paint process following body repairs, ensuring all work meets the highest quality standards and is completed efficiently and safely. This includes surface preparation, sanding, masking, applying seam sealer, and ensuring vehicles are "gun ready" for spray painting. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven experience in vehicle preparation within a professional body shop environment, with strong knowledge of repair and finishing techniques. A keen eye for detail, excellent workmanship, and the ability to work collaboratively with panel beaters and spray painters are essential to maintaining a smooth workflow and consistent quality output. The role also involves maintaining a clean, organised workspace and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards. Effective communication, teamwork, and good organisational skills are required to manage materials, equipment, and processes efficiently. Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair and preparation techniques. Experience with seam sealer and other waterproofing applications is essential. Skilled in the use of tools and equipment necessary for high-quality vehicle preparation. Attention to detail and a commitment to achieving excellent finishes. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Good communication and organisational skills. "Gun Ready'' Responsibilities Assess and repair vehicle bodies post-collision, preparing them for priming and painting. Apply primer to repaired surfaces, ensuring thorough coverage and proper preparation for painting. Sand, mask, and otherwise prepare vehicle surfaces to a fine finish. Apply seam sealer as required to ensure waterproofing and seamless repairs. Ensure that vehicles are clean, masked, and 'gun ready' for spray painters. Collaborate closely with panel beaters and spray painters to ensure smooth workflow and quality control. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment in compliance with health and safety standards. Manage supplies and equipment related to the prepping process, including inventory tracking and reordering as necessary.
