Dublin, Ireland Allied Irish Banks Full time

Location/Office Policy: Dawson Street, Dublin 2 or 66 South Mall, Cork with Hybrid Working

2 days per week in the office moving to 3 days from 1st January 2026 (Days TBC)

- Do you want to build a career in a fast-moving team that is focussed on funding developers to address the housing crisis and landlords providing commercial real estate space?

- Do you want to work in a specialist real estate unit, working alongside valuers, engineers and economists, together with lending colleagues?

We want to hear from driven individuals who work collaboratively with colleagues and want a rewarding career in the property market.

What is the Role

Real Estate Finance (REF) is a specialist customer facing department in AIB Capital Markets. We are a team of 65 people with a mix of disciplines including data experts, economists and a Chartered Engineer who help us make better decisions.

We work collaboratively to play a vital role in ensuring that we play our part in addressing the housing situation by funding the development of A-rated homes in RoI. Working closely with the largest developers in the country, we also encourage them to improve further the sustainability credentials of those homes.

We fund institutional and large private investors for the purchase of commercial real estate assets across Ireland and in Europe through participation in large international syndicates. We work with these borrowers to develop a transition plan to improve the quality of their buildings.

We already have a broad variety of people working in the department and are seeking to hire new people into a number of roles across REF. Having experience in property related lending is an advantage, but not a must have.

This growing team within Real Estate Finance has responsibility for Governance and Risk Management and Data Reporting. Enhanced data insights will be a key role of future strategy.

Key accountabilities

- Oversee the business’s risks and controls, including managing regulatory requirements, policy breaches, operational risk events, and handling complaints.

- Conduct quality assurance activities and coordinate with assurance and audit teams across the three lines of defence. Take responsibility for ensuring that identified issues are met with appropriate mitigating actions and are tracked to completion within agreed deadlines.

- Support regulatory and governance oversight by maintaining compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and relevant industry standards.

- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for Senior Management and participate in various committees and forums as required.

- Proactively build and sustain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment with the organisation’s objectives.

What you Will Bring

- Minimum of 3 years banking/financial services experience desirable.

- Previous experience in an operational risk, business support, quality assurance or compliance focused role.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.

- Excellent problem-solving, and project management skills.

- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work to challenging deadlines.
