Wexford, Ireland NHS Full time

Lincolnshire Community Health Service NHS Trust

Do you want to make a difference in your career in Nursing? Would you like to work in a friendly patient-focused environment? Are you passionate, ambitious, dedicated, and dynamic? If so, we have exciting opportunities for experienced Band 5 nurses as well as enthusiastic newly qualified nurses looking to start their journey and development.

Lincolnshire Community Health Service (LCHS) has an opportunity for a number of registered nurses to join our dedicated teams through our cohort recruitment event.

We are seeking staff to work on Archer ward at Louth Community Hospital.

Lincolnshire is a wonderfully diverse place to live; a thriving University City, the rolling hills of the Wolds, the wildlife of the fens, and a 30-mile stretch of beautiful sand along our East coast. Lincolnshire boasts an affordable lifestyle, and with the mix of heritage and modern developments, Lincolnshire is a great place to see exciting and fun opportunities for all members of the family.

We are rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission and are playing an integral part in shaping future health service provision countywide alongside partner health and social care organisations.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to flourish in a successful NHS Trust, with access to some of the best schools in the country, affordable housing, and a great standard of living in one of the many picturesque market towns or villages or a thriving city.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be responsible for all aspects of patient care, from admission through to discharge, using a computerized record-keeping system. You will have the opportunity to attend family meetings, undertake ward rounds, and be involved in multi-disciplinary team meetings. These all contribute to the decision-making process, goal setting, and care planning that facilitates a safe discharge home from Hospital. You will provide general nursing care to all of your patients, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect. You will be able to promote a safe environment within the unit and act as a shift coordinator as required.

You must be a Registered Nurse who is able to communicate at all levels, have high clinical standards, and have the ability to work as part of a team.

You would be required to work flexibly on an internal shift rotation, working both days and nights over a seven-day period, including bank holidays. In return, you will receive enhanced payments for working unsocial hours, a generous holiday entitlement, and a pension scheme.

Preceptorship nurses are also encouraged to apply, and a full preceptorship programme is offered by the Trust.

About us

At LCHS, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where all belong. We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in LCHS' workforce.

LCHS recognises the increasing demand for more flexibility in working practices in order to accommodate the personal goals and commitments that employees experience at different stages during their working lives. Flexible working opportunities such as part-time working, compressed hours, job shares, and hybrid working models can help staff to balance their personal and work commitments. Arrangements can be put in place if it can be shown that the needs of the individual can be balanced with those of the service and the impact on other team members, enabling the Trust to recruit and retain skilled staff, raise staff morale, reduce absenteeism and respond to changing service needs more effectively.

We are an ambassador of a learning culture that will support the right individual to progress in their chosen career through an 'earn while you learn' apprenticeship programme.

Job responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

- Assess patients' needs and make appropriate plans for care, implement care plans, and evaluate effectiveness.
- Effectively manage the patient's journey through admission, treatment, and discharge.
- Contribute to own development and the development of others, working in accordance with the NMC Code.

To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience you will need, you are encouraged to look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the Supporting Documents heading and refer back to these documents when completing your application.

You should use your application form to show that you meet all or most of the essential criteria outlined in the person specification for the position. If you fail to demonstrate this in your answers, or you are unable to meet the criteria, it is unlikely you will be shortlisted for an interview for that post.
