We are seeking to recruit a Assistant Financial Controller to join the Service Excellence Team in our rapidly growing Firm. Our Service Excellence Team ensures all aspects of the Firm operate smoothly and efficiently.
As an Assistant Financial Controller , you will be working directly with the Head of Finance and Finance Partner to provide support to the wider Firm. This is a role that will enable you to progress your career in a highly collaborative and supportive team.
What you will be doing Coordinate and manage payment and billing details of external service providers, contractors and vendors.
Verify payments and deposits made through the company account and coordinate with the bank.
Work with journals, sales & purchase ledgers and spreadsheets.
Create financial documents such as bills, invoices, pay-orders, payables, receivables and purchase orders.
Maintenance of cost code system and matching invoices to same; work with Business Service Managers and Partners on the operation of the cost code system.
Identify discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, tracking them to the source and correcting them.
Expenses – review of all expense claims and processing of same for approval and payment.
Manage payroll activities and release salaries.
Reconcile accounts accurately.
Allocate and post payments accurately.
Investigate and close out account queries in a professional and timely manner including posting of credit notes.
Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Create monthly reports for management and team members.
Continuously improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the department.
Ensure Finance policies and procedures are adhered to (e.g. invoicing approval procedure for suppliers).
Provide support to the client facing team.
Preparation and submission of regulatory returns.
Ad-hoc projects.
Required Experience Proven experience (2+ years) as a qualified accountant or in a related financial role.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organisational and planning capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
IT literacy with a track record of using full MS Office Suite, in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Experience in closing accounts at month-end (e.g., preparing a trial balance) is a bonus.
Technical – experience with QuickBooks and practice management software is an advantage.
Analytical – strong analytical and quantitative skills; high proficiency in MS Excel and other MS products.
Initiative – ability to take the initiative and work with limited supervision (support available).
Dynamism – willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with a highly energetic and motivated team.
Flexibility – willingness to adapt to varying and changing client demands.
