Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Town Planner to join our team in County Mayo. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the development of urban and rural areas, ensuring sustainable growth while balancing the needs of communities, businesses, and the environment. This role involves working closely with local authorities, developers, and the public to create and implement planning policies that enhance the region's infrastructure, housing, and amenities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement town and regional planning strategies in line with national and local policies.
2. Assess planning applications and make recommendations based on zoning laws, environmental regulations, and community needs.
3. Conduct research and feasibility studies on land use, infrastructure, and sustainability projects.
4. Engage with stakeholders, including local authorities, businesses, and residents, to ensure transparent and inclusive planning processes.
5. Prepare reports, presentations, and policy documents for planning committees and public consultations.
6. Support the development of housing, transport, and public space projects that align with community growth.
7. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and heritage conservation policies.
8. Advise developers and private clients on planning regulations and best practices.

Key Requirements:

1. A degree in Town Planning, Urban Design, Geography, Environmental Planning, or a related field.
2. Experience in planning, development, or a related sector (public or private).
3. Strong knowledge of Irish planning laws, regulations, and local government processes.
4. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
5. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
6. Proficiency in GIS and planning software is an advantage.
