Overview
We are seeking passionate and experienced Ecologists, Senior Ecologists, and Principal Ecologists to join growing teams in Ireland. Whether you/'re an emerging report writer or a seasoned professional, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work across a variety of ecological and environmental projects, from early-stage site assessments to complex EIAs. The position will support hybrid working and include field and office-based responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Ecologist (3–5 years) — Lead small to medium-sized ecological projects and coordinate fieldwork and baseline assessments.

Review and author high-quality ecological assessments, including EcIAs, NISs, and biodiversity chapters for EIARs.

Mentor junior staff and support their professional development.

Support project delivery in line with timelines, budgets, and QA protocols.

Engage with clients, planning authorities, and statutory stakeholders.

Principal Ecologist (5–7+ years) — Lead large and complex ecological projects from feasibility through to post-consent.

Provide strategic ecological input to multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to business development.

Oversee internal QA procedures and team standards.

Guide professional development of team members and advise on external training opportunities.

Manage client relationships, regulatory submissions, and project strategy.

Required Qualifications & Experience (All Levels)

A Bachelor/'s degree (minimum) in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related discipline (Postgraduate desirable).

Demonstrated knowledge of Irish and EU ecological legislation, planning systems, and best practice.

Strong technical report writing skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and time management skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).

Eligibility or current membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM).

Full clean Irish or EU driving license.

Experience with GIS and mapping software.

Familiarity with ecological databases and planning portals.

Field survey experience (e.g., bats, birds, habitats).

Specialism in a protected species, habitat, or regulatory methodology.

Project and team management experience.
