Our client, a well established building contractor, is looking for a motivated and experienced EHS Officer with a minimum of 4 years' experience to join their team on a permanent basis.

Job Summary:

As an EHS Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining health and safety standards and practices on a construction site. Your role will involve monitoring compliance, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This is a critical position that ensures the well-being of our employees and contractors, as well as compliance with legal and industry regulations.

Responsibilities:

- Implement and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and standards on construction sites, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective measures to mitigate risks and improve safety.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees, contractors, and subcontractors on health and safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare comprehensive reports detailing the root causes, recommending corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of health and safety inspections, incidents, training, and other related activities.
- Review and update risk assessments, method statements, and safety plans to ensure they are relevant and up to date.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, including participating in safety meetings and providing guidance on best practices.
- Stay informed about changes in health and safety legislation and industry practices, and ensure that the organization remains compliant.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid arrangements.
- Support the investigation and resolution of health and safety-related concerns raised by employees or external parties.

Qualifications and Skills:

- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a EHS Officer within the construction industry.
- A recognized qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with construction processes, equipment, and materials, and the associated hazards and risks.
