Huawei's products and services are available in more than 170 countries and are used by a third of the world's population. Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) is one of Huawei's three business units and covers smartphones, PC and tablets, wearables and cloud services, etc.

Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) is part of CBG and it develops new cloud services that are offered free of charge to Huawei mobile device users.

HMS ecosystem is now the third largest ecosystem in the world. As of September 2020, 96,000 global apps have integrated with HMS Core. HMS Apps continues to launch globally, with content apps such as HUAWEI Music, HUAWEI Video, HUAWEI Themes, HUAWEI Reader and HUAWEI Game Center taking center stage in various countries and regions.

About the IRC

Huawei Ireland Research Centre (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and a global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions. To achieve this we are building an industry-recognized multi-discipline Research Centre of experts with focus on medium-term to long-term issues. The IRC will work closely with an open innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.

The Cloud Reliability Lab at Huawei Ireland Research Center is at the cutting-edge of innovation, driving the development of the world's most advanced data centers. As a member of the team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our hyperscale cloud infrastructure to meet the growing demand for computational power across a wide range of services, including AI, big data analytics, and cloud computing.

In this role, you will collaborate with global network engineers, software engineers, and researchers to lead the development of cutting-edge data center solutions for Huawei Cloud's hybrid optical-electrical network infrastructure, leveraging OXC and SONiC technologies. Your efforts will directly contribute to delivering unmatched reliability and performance to Huawei Cloud users globally.

Responsibilities

1. Lead foundational technical initiatives across our growing cloud infrastructure.
2. Design Huawei Cloud's hybrid optical-electrical data center network solutions, focusing on improving hyperscale distributed traffic engineering and topology engineering.
3. Collaborate on designing, building, and maintaining scalable network infrastructure across cloud environments.
4. Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance the reliability and scalability of cloud network solutions, including traditional DCN networks, AI networks, and WAN networks.
5. Define and conduct programs to optimize networks, reduce network TCO, and enhance reliability and flexibility.
6. Develop strategic plans to improve network quality, efficiency, and cloud service delivery.
7. Publish key findings in relevant conferences and journals or apply for patents as appropriate.

Requirements

1. 8+ years of experience with a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer science or related fields.
2. Hands on experience in design, deployment, and operation of cloud scale data center networks.
3. Deep understanding of Elastic Optical Networks (OXC/OCS) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) basics.
4. Experience in coding or scripting in at least two high level programming languages (e.g.: C, C++, Python, Go, Rust).
5. Exceptional communication skills including the ability to negotiate around deeply technical topics with senior business leaders.
6. Optional: Hands on experience working with AWS, Azure or GCP services.
7. Optional: Experience in a specific networking domain such as traffic engineering (MPLS, congestion control, load balancing), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, ISIS), topology Engineering (MTR), data center network solutions (CLOS, Dragonfly+), or open-source network operating systems (SONiC, ONL).
