Overview

The GBS Capability Optimisation and Automation (GCOA) organisation is a strategic function focused on transforming finance operations through intelligent automation and AI. GCOA acts as a centralised capability hub, enabling scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that deliver measurable business value.

GCOA partners with finance and technology teams to:

- Identify automation opportunities.

- Design innovative solutions.

- Embed automation as a core enabler of operational excellence and digital transformation.

Position Description

The Analyst – Automation Engineer will create and maintain automation solutions for the business. The solutions will include defining, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining agentic AI solutions.

As an Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of intelligent automation and decision support within the finance domain. You will:

Model Fine‑Tuning & Optimization

- Fine‑tune large language models (LLMs) and other ML models for finance‑specific use cases such as forecasting, risk analysis, and anomaly detection.

- Evaluate and improve model performance using domain‑specific datasets and metrics.

Copilot Development

- Design and embed sophisticated AI copilots into finance workflows to enhance decision‑making, automate routine tasks, and improve user experience.

- Collaborate with finance SMEs to understand pain points and translate them into intelligent assistant capabilities.

Agentic AI development

- Drive the design and implementation of autonomous AI agents capable of goal‑directed behavior, contextual reasoning, and adaptive learning.

- Collaborate cross‑functionally to integrate agentic capabilities into enterprise systems, ensuring scalability, safety, and alignment with business objectives.

- Lead experimentation with multi‑agent coordination, tool use, and memory architectures to enhance agent performance and autonomy.

API Integration & Strategy

- Develop and maintain robust APIs to expose AI/ML capabilities across platforms and services.

- Contribute to the evolution of a scalable API‑first architecture for AI services.

- Ensure seamless integration of AI models with enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, BI tools).

Collaboration & Innovation

- Work closely with cross‑functional teams including data engineering, finance, automation, and product to deliver impactful solutions.

- Stay current with advancements in AI/ML and bring innovative ideas to the team.

Essential Qualifications

- Experience in programming (Python, R, Java, PowerShell, VB/VBA, PL/SQL and O365 Power Platform)

- Proven experience in fine‑tuning and deploying ML/LLM models in production environments.

- Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).

- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration.

- Experience working with financial datasets and understanding of finance domain concepts.

- Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools (e.g., MLflow, Docker, Kubernetes).

- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

Additional Experience

- Experience with vector databases and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.

- Knowledge of enterprise finance systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials).

- Exposure to GenAI platforms (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic).

- Experience with prompt engineering and copilot UX design.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and serverless architectures.

- Understanding of data privacy and compliance in financial applications.

- RPA bot development experience of 2–3 years with Automation Anywhere.

Experience Required

- Overall 3+ years of relevant programmer experience.

- Experience in programming (Python, R, Java, PowerShell, VB/VBA, PL/SQL and O365 Power Platform).

- Bachelor’s Degree in business or Management Information Systems or Computer Science or similar course.

- Track record of meeting and/or exceeding established client, project and performance goals.

- Track record of working on projects to success within established timelines and budgets.

- Ability to work independently, or in groups, as the lead participant.

- Ability to take on complex assignments and assume increasingly greater responsibilities.

Additional preferences

- Experience with systems development life cycle and structured programming methods (both traditional and agile), including requirements definition, solution design, program development, testing, documentation, training, deployment, operations, support and maintenance.

- With supply chain/finance/administrative business processes, systems and applications of varying scope and complexity.
