Overview The role
As Director of Flight Operations, you will be responsible for the efficient running of the Flight Operations department at Emerald Airlines. This is a key position at Emerald Airlines, allowing the company to develop and grow quickly through the safe and efficient running of flight operations.
Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Accountable manager, the Director of Flight Operations is responsible for ensuring the safety, security and efficient overall operation of all Company ATR 72-600 Aircraft. The Director of Flight Operations will be responsible for:
Compliance within the Flight Operations Department with Company policy and legal requirements, and to ensure compliance in accordance with applicable regulations;
The development and maintenance of procedures to ensure the smooth operation of all company aircraft;
The management of Company Flight and Cabin crew with reference to the company/'s HR procedures;
The selection and recruitment of all flight crew;
The designation of Aircraft Commanders and Training personnel in consultation with the Head of Training.
The production and maintenance of the Company/'s Operations Manuals.
The development and checking of line standards across the fleet.
The overall supervision of flight and route planning.
Briefing and the issuing as required of all general and specific weather minima;
Overseeing the maintenance of all required operational and training records, ensuring all crews are properly licensed and authorised;
Liaison with the Irish Aviation Authority, and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport as necessary, to ensure that the Company/'s operations are in accordance with the authorisation issued to it.
Liaison with original equipment manufacturers and other external organisations relevant to flight operations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft.
The review and evaluation of programmes for fleet/equipment standardisation and new aircraft acquisition
Required Qualifications and Experience Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices;
Comprehensive knowledge of:
the applicable EU safety regulations and any associated requirements and procedures;
the Emerald Airlines operations specifications;
the need for, and content of the relevant parts of Emerald Airlines operations.
Familiarity with management systems preferably in the area of aviation;
Appropriate management experience, preferably in a comparable organisation;
5 years of relevant work experience of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position;
Hold a valid flight crew licence and ATR type rating.
