Role Brief

Join Our Neurodiversity Service Team at Spectrum.Life At Spectrum.Life, we believe in celebrating neurodiversity and supporting people to understand themselves in empowering, affirming ways. Our team is passionate about creating a space where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported. We’re looking for a PSI Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) to join our growing neurodiversity service. This is a meaningful opportunity to support neurodivergent individuals through providing ADHD and autism assessments, personalised support planning, andtherapeutic interventions, all delivered through secure online platforms. You’ll collaborate with adults and young people (ages 7+), to explore their neurodivergent identity, identify strengths, and co-create support plans that reflect their unique goals and needs. You’ll also be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team, and play a key role in shaping care that truly makes a difference.

Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive ADHD assessments grounded in neurodiversity-affirming principles and informed by a deep and nuanced understanding of the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, while recognising the full range of individual variation in presentation, especially across gender, age, and cultural background.
- Deliver comprehensive autism assessments, with a solid grasp of DSM-5 diagnostic frameworks and their limitations, ensuring assessments are holistic and inclusive of lived experience, contextual factors, and the person’s unique developmental profile.
- Apply clinical insight into the intersectionality of ADHD and autism, recognising the nuanced ways in which co-occurring neurodevelopmental differences can present and interact, and tailoring assessment and support accordingly. Providetherapeutic interventions, tailoring strategies to the individual’s strengths, preferences, and needs while incorporating affirming, collaborative goal-setting.
- Work as part of a remote and multidisciplinary team, contributing clinical insight and ensuring that assessment and intervention pathways reflect an inclusive, person-centred model of care.
- Prepare clear, professional, neurodiversity-affirming reports that reflect comprehensive, strengths-based clinical thinking and provide practical, meaningful recommendations for support in daily life, education, or employment.
- Liaise with families, caregivers, and support systems to develop understanding and facilitate goal-setting, ensuring that everyone involved feels included, empowered, and heard.
- Engage in ongoing learning and reflective practice to stay current with best practices in neurodiversity-affirming approaches, diagnostic frameworks, and inclusive clinical approaches.

Requirements

- Doctoral qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and current registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
- Minimum one year of post-registration experience, with a clear focus on comprehensive assessment and support for ADHD and/or autism, including experience recognising co-occurring presentations and navigating diagnostic complexity.
- In-depth understanding of the DSM-5 criteria for autism and ADHD, alongside a critical, reflective approach that integrates clinical judgement, contextual information, and the lived experience of neurodivergent individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to go beyond screening tools and checklists, using a formulation-based approach to build a rich, individualised understanding of each client’s strengths, needs, and support context.
- Proven ability to communicate complex clinical information clearly, both verbally and in writing, with a consistent focus on producing neurodiversity-affirming reports that are accessible, practical, and person-centred.
- Confident in working remotely, using a range of digital platforms and collaboration tools (e.g., secure video conferencing, shared documentation platforms) to engage effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Skilled in developing collaborative care plans and meaningful, values-led goals with neurodivergent individuals and their families or support networks.
- A clinician who brings a strong commitment to inclusive, strength-based, and affirming practice, and who stays current with evolving understandings of neurodiversity, identity, and mental health.
