Lab Support Engineer, Ring Software/Firmware
We are looking to hire a Lab Support Engineer in Ring India within the Software/Firmware development organization, responsible for the Ring Lab that has core products including doorbell camera, security camera, and other new products.
Role:
The Ring Software/Firmware QA team is looking for a Lab Support Engineer to help and own the lab’s current capabilities and its expansion. The successful candidate will be obsessed with quality improvement, helping to generate and collect data to increase operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain all aspects of the Ring device labs, supporting spaces and equipment resources, including hardware and software.
2. Update all lab infrastructure, equipment, and software configurations.
3. Ensure availability of test equipment and parts, understanding customer use cases.
4. Organize and maintain stock of critical test equipment, third-party devices, and prototype devices for troubleshooting and debugging.
5. Monitor our lab ticket queue, triage, troubleshoot, and resolve incoming tickets within established timelines.
6. Provide detailed data and communications in trouble tickets, and document and communicate system processes.
7. Generate service metrics using scripts and/or documentation.
8. Work with all stages of prototype devices, debug connectivity, and move devices between development stages within the lab.
9. Image/Re-Image computers (Amazon Images, Non-Amazon Images).
10. Troubleshoot hardware and software (Linux, Android, iOS, and FireOS).
11. Compose technical documents for operational excellence and troubleshooting.
12. Flash prototype devices to software builds required by our customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of software development or technical support experience.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
- Experience scripting in modern programming languages.
- 1+ years experience organizing and maintaining stock of critical test equipment, third-party devices, and prototype devices for troubleshooting and debugging.
- 1+ years experience in project management skills including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status, and prioritizing tasks for multiple projects.
- 1+ years experience with SQA methodology and tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with embedded systems, consumer devices, or mobile apps.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working effectively with development engineering and other functions.
- Superior analytical skills, including a strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
- A basic understanding of network troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
