Job description: Position Overview: The Kitchen Operations Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient daily running of the kitchen at Arboretum Leighlinbridge. This position is responsible for opening the kitchen, coordinating early-morning preparations, and maintaining operational readiness for the culinary team. As the day progresses, the role transitions into supporting general kitchen operations and porter duties to uphold cleanliness, organisation, and service standards. Key Responsibilities: Open the kitchen each morning and ensure all equipment and appliances are safely turned on and operational. Receive and check deliveries, ensuring all stock is accurately recorded, stored, and rotated in line with food safety standards. Prepare and organise kitchen stations for service, ensuring chefs have the tools, ingredients, and workspace required. Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen, adhering to hygiene and HACCP standards. Support the chefs during busy service periods as needed, assisting with prep or kitchen logistics. Oversee dishwashing and kitchen porter tasks, ensuring efficiency and high standards of hygiene. Report any equipment faults, safety concerns, or stock shortages to the Head Chef or Head of Culinary. Contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment that reflects Arboretums high standard of customer care and presentation. Skills & Attributes: Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work efficiently under time pressure. Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety. Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive attitude. Flexibility to assist across different kitchen duties as required. Experience & Requirements: Previous experience in a kitchen support, porter, or prep role preferred. Familiarity with HACCP and food hygiene best practices. Must be available for early morning shifts and weekend work as required.
