We are currently seeking a Laboratory Scientist to be part of the Laboratory Operations Team, where the focus will be on supporting testing such as DNA isolation, Biobanking, Genotyping, and Real-time PCR technologies and platforms. The position will support all aspects of laboratory operations and will collaborate with cross-functional teams internally and externally to generate the highest quality genotype data and ensure that all activities are conducted to the highest standard. The successful candidate will report directly to the Technical Lead. Focus in this area will be around Haemolytics.
Specific Responsibilities
1. To support all activities related to DNA isolation, biobanking, genotyping, and real-time PCR platforms and any other test activity maintained by the lab.
2. To perform routine and specialist analytical testing on a range of biological samples.
3. To analyze data and interpret results and assist the sample receipt team with the accessioning of samples if required.
4. To process samples and complete test methods in the necessary timeframe to ensure that required turnaround times for reporting results are achieved.
5. To independently identify and report non-conforming work to the line supervisor and support the necessary RCA and close out of incidents/CAPAs when required.
6. To support and assist in the validation of all new test methods.
7. To assist in the maintenance of lab equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies.
8. To accurately record data, write reports, and share results.
9. To carry out tasks accurately and according to Standard Operating Procedures in order to produce reliable data and results and report any deviations to a senior member of staff immediately.
10. To support the lab’s quality management system by ensuring that working practice is in line with ISO17025 standards and/or other relevant accreditations.
11. To ensure samples are stored and handled correctly.
12. To assist in the supervision and mentoring of trainee scientists and other support staff when required.
13. To ensure training records are up to date and signed off in line with WGQ28 before performing any procedure independently.
14. To correctly and safely dispose of chemical residue and other waste material.
15. To observe all relevant health and safety regulations.
All of these roles are for December/January start dates. Contracts will range from 3 to 6 month duration. Candidates will be working days only.
