Thermal Engineer / Project Manager - EMEA Travel - Liquid Cooling

Summary

Vertiv is hiring a Travelling Thermal Engineer / Project Manager to join our growing team. This hybrid role combines hands‑on technical work with project management responsibilities. You will lead the site deployment of liquid cooling and thermal equipment at customer locations across the EMEA region, overseeing all aspects of installation, commissioning, and testing to ensure successful project delivery. The role will ensure that project deployment is within pre‑defined acceptance criteria for required timescales and expected customer service levels, whilst establishing and promoting excellent rapport with both internal and external stakeholders. This is a travelling role, with around 90% of your time spent on client sites throughout EMEA, including locations such as the Nordics, UK, France, and the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

- Project management – Lead full project lifecycle, ensuring coordination, communication, and on‑time delivery.

- Site‑based activity – Support EMEA project deployments through extensive travel and partner collaboration.

- Technical – Apply and advance expertise in liquid cooling and thermal management technologies.

- Process improvement – Drive process and performance improvements through feedback and innovation.

- Stakeholder management – Maintain clear communication and strong relationships across teams and stakeholders.

- Financial reporting – Ensure accurate cost reporting and support financial performance analysis.

- Health & safety – Enforce strict compliance with all Health & Safety standards.

Experience Required

- Technical background in Thermal / HVAC / Refrigeration / Cooling – including commissioning, installation, maintenance, and repair.

- Liquid cooling experience is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.

- Willingness to travel extensively across EMEA.

- Minimum HND or Level 5 EQF qualification in Mechanical or HVAC Engineering, or equivalent experience.

- Knowledge of data centre cooling technologies and best practices.

- Experience in managing cooling infrastructure or M&E projects (Prince2 or equivalent desirable).

- Understanding of thermodynamics and cooling efficiency metrics.

- Experience in managing M&E sub‑contractors is advantageous.

This role is ideal for Thermal or HVAC Engineers who enjoy travel and hands‑on work in a dynamic environment. We welcome applications from all experience levels.

Physical & Environmental Demands

- Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, and bending.

- Climbing stairs and ladders regularly.

- Driving (car) as part of travel.

- Exposure to extreme temperatures (below –20°C / above +37°C).

- Working in medium to high noise environments (may require shouting to communicate).

- Working near moving machinery (e.g., forklifts, tractors).

- Use of protective equipment (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirators, etc.).

- Working outdoors with limited weather protection.

- Work outdoors (no effective protection from weather).
