Amazon Robotics is seeking a motivated and hands on Hardware Test Engineer. Our multi-disciplinary team of mechanical/electrical/software/quality engineers and technicians are dedicated to advancing the knowledge of robotics and how millions of customer orders are fulfilled every day. This role is for test engineers with a mechanical engineering foundation or mechanical engineers who want to be hands on in the labs working with the newest products developed at Amazon Robotics. You will need a strong basis in mechanical engineering but ready to work in mechatronics, robotics, fixture design and development, and test strategy. You will work with program teams and development engineering to create test strategies to inform development and verify requirements. In this role we are looking for an engineer that can tackle the tasks at hand but keep looking around the corner at the corner to help prepare the team for what's coming next.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with hardware development engineers and program managers to define, execute and report on verification and validation tests.
- Execute testing strategies, analyze results and report findings
- Design and build new test fixtures and equipment
- Prepare software scripts for data collection and analysis
- Commission and configure new hardware installations for testing
- Perform experiments to collect data to improve specific hardware components and the complete system
- Share experimental results with written reports
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, or equivalent field
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification and validation plans, and functional test procedures
- Ability and desire to work hands on in lab environments, carrying out tests in new technology development
- Experience in building simple parts, assemblies, and fixtures, working with aluminum profiles, drilling, cutting, 3D printing, etc.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience with programming languages (Python, C, etc.) and generation of testing scripts
- Experience with Electro-Mechanical systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with electrical controls and automation systems
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience in automation and/or robotic systems
- Experience with FEA (Ansys and/or SW Simulation)
- Experience with Linux (e.g. Ubuntu) operating system
- Understanding of safety systems and standards
