We are in search of a Software Engineer who is experienced in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications, with a focus on ensuring the development of high-quality code. As a key member of our team, you will report to the WBA Technology Center Technical Lead and collaborate within the global organization. We are looking for an individual with high motivation and drive to oversee and uphold coding standards, design principles, and secure development practices, ultimately ensuring the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and secure code across our diverse product portfolio.
This is a hybrid position based in our Dublin 2 offices.
What you will do:
1. Design, Build, scale and Maintain enterprise software products as part of an Agile development team.
2. Lead the development and enforcement of coding standards, design patterns, and architectural guidelines to ensure maintainable, scalable, and high-quality software products.
3. Provide expert guidance to development teams in code reviews, offering constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to established coding and design principles.
4. Influence and mentor engineers to continuously improve coding practices and design skills, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
5. Drive the identification and adoption of emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance the development process and product quality.
6. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind coding and design decisions, advocating for best practices, and driving consensus.
7. Develop and maintain code design standards, guidelines, and processes across the product portfolio.
8. Drive focus on consistent code quality and development standards across the product portfolio.
9. Support the Technical Design Lead in auditing services and producing reports on their quality and performance.
10. Collaborate with development teams to improve code quality, security, and compliance.
11. Ensure that the code design has the principles of uniformity, simplicity, versatility, and stability.
12. Conduct design reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and organizational guidelines.
13. Maintain documentation related to code standards, processes, and best practices.
14. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the code development process.
15. Drive efficiencies through software improvement and root cause analysis, resulting in service delivery, maturity, and scalability.
16. Identify opportunities and drive the adoption and implementation of automation capabilities to improve code quality and health.

1. Collaborate with the engineering teams and developers to ensure the adoption of secure and high-quality code development standards.
2. Proactively identify and reduce issues related to code quality during design and testing.
3. Showcase leadership in technical vision and influence the performance of the team.
4. Demonstrate a proactive approach to work by taking the initiative, seeking opportunities to contribute, and showing ownership of responsibilities.
5. Stay current on emerging trends, solutions and standards associated with software development to provide advice and support to the development teams.
You will have:
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise software development.
3. Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile) and experience collaborating within cross-functional teams.
4. Bias for action with a self-starter mindset.
5. An understanding of software architecture, design patterns and coding practices with programming languages and technologies.
6. A keen eye for detail and ability to identify code discrepancies and security vulnerabilities.
You will be experienced with:
1. Multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.) and a strong understanding of their associated ecosystems.
2. Working with code quality tools, such as: SonarQube, CodeSense etc.
3. Supporting business definitions and goals with strong technical expertise.
4. Influencing and guiding development teams toward adopting best practices.
5. Analyzing complex design and technical challenges.
6. Working with diverse, global, and remote teams.
