The engineer will take responsibility for maintenance, troubleshooting, spare parts, documentation, and records for all control and instrumentation equipment. Working with the Control Engineer and/or Senior Authorised Person, the role will also involve LV and HV switching up to 110 kV.

Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00 (40 hours/week), with occasional work outside these hours when required.

- Diagnose EC&I faults using schematics, diagrams, and testing equipment (multimeter, insulation tester, micro-ohmmeter).

- Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and layouts to plan maintenance tasks.

- Install and calibrate field instrumentation (transmitters, analysers, sensors, control valves).

- Carry out bench calibrations, loop checks, testing, and cable verification.

- Maintain accurate calibration records, test reports, and instrument history files.

- Troubleshoot control systems and respond to alarms, restoring systems to full operational status.

- Ensure full compliance with Permit to Work, LOTO, and all safety systems.

- Log maintenance activities in the CMMS in line with O&M requirements.

- Support safe isolation and de‑energisation of equipment prior to maintenance.

- Prepare and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS).

- Report system anomalies and recommend reliability or process improvements.

Role Requirements

- Diploma or equivalent engineering qualification with 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role and/or National Craft Standard.

- Strong knowledge of instrumentation design (Instrument Index, I/O lists, datasheets/specs, layouts, cable routes, block diagrams, system architecture, ATEX/hazardous areas).

- Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and layouts.

- Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, PLC control philosophies, PLCs, and marshalling concepts.

- Experience with MCCs, VSDs, and instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, analytical).

- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

- Thorough understanding of safe work practices (Permit to Work, LOTO, PPE, emergency procedures).

- Proficiency with maintenance tools (voltmeters, ammeters, insulation testers, vibration meters, thermal imaging cameras, loop testers, etc.).

- Comfortable using IT systems and CMMS software.

- Flexibility to support operations outside core hours when required.

- Fluent English essential; Portuguese an advantage.
