THE ROLE

KKR is looking to add a talented Staff Engineer to make an impact in our software engineering organization and the wider Technology group. Our agile team is responsible for delivering solutions to aid in managing and understanding risk and performance drivers in our investment strategy, portfolio management and operations, providing differentiated outcomes to internal and external clients. You’ll work on a cloud‑native tech stack of micro‑services leveraging Kubernetes and modern approaches to CI/CD. We primarily use React on the frontend as well as Python on the backend. As a Principal Engineer, you will help drive our risk platform forward and help further the standard for engineering excellence not only on the team but across the entire organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Write and review code, and deploy systems that facilitate our business
- Collaborate closely with business, product and engineering stakeholders
- Inspire excellence through strong leadership and coaching/mentorship
- Own application design and architecture reviews for your area
- Facilitate an agile, iterative software development process
- Break down complex problems into simple, creative, and effective solutions
- Build solutions for high availability, observability, and maintainability
- Provide support for all aspects of the part of the platform you own

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- At least 4 years of experience with cloud‑based service‑oriented architecture and web services.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field (Engineering/Mathematics/Computer Science)
- Advanced knowledge of an object‑oriented programming language (such as python) with a proven track record of delivering high‑quality data applications
- Strong background in databases and data pipelines
- Exposure to web programming and related frameworks (e.g. HTML, JS, React); full stack experience a strong plus
- Experience in designing, delivering, and securing data‑rich web applications
- Empowers team and flexes style to lead and support both novice and experienced engineers.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with business stakeholders.
- Acts as a change agent. Achieves buy‑in and support at the wider organizational level for initiatives they own.
- Interest in finance, hard‑working and eager to learn in a fast‑paced, innovative commercial environment
- Ability to think strategically and act tactically with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated curiosity, analytical skills, and resourcefulness with a proven record of ownership and the ability to deliver results in a fast‑paced and dynamic business environment.
