Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This role is pivotal in managing the financial aspects of property and infrastructure investment, with a strong focus on capital project budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Investment and Reporting Controller to manage capital project costs and ensure sustainable financial reporting.
- Support procurement with project cost evaluation and analysis.
- Monitor planned investments and expenditure timelines, track budget variances, and flag any potential risks or deviations.
- Assist in building maintenance, budget preparation and monitoring open commitments and actual spend.
- Work with the general ledger team to maintain the fixed asset register, asset verification, and disposals.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures in line with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring all compliance standards are met.
- Provide support for investment-related committees, including agenda preparation, minutes, documentation, and follow-up actions.
- Evaluate and support improvements to financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and increased efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system upgrades and future enhancements, including financial planning and reporting tools.
- Recommend and support implementation of technology solutions that drive efficiencies and support strategic reporting needs.
- Ensure timely completion of all monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance submissions.
- Work with the general ledger team on asset creation and related reporting, aligned with internal approvals and governance structures.
- Support the development of compliance reports in line with environmental, sustainability, and regulatory frameworks.
Skills & Experience Required
- Fully qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrable experience in investment appraisal and financial evaluation.
- Solid financial background in capital projects, including accounting, forecasting, and reporting responsibilities.
- Excellent understanding of financial systems, organisational processes, and corporate governance.
- Hands-on experience in project management and process improvement.
- Proficient in financial systems (e.g., SAP) and data reporting tools.
- Advanced Excel skills and high proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of legislative frameworks and standards relevant to capital investment and sustainability reporting.
