Fender Financial Accountant Role


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in Cavan. This role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day running of the accounting function within the EMEA region.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with all company policies and standard operating procedures, identify/establish internal controls, and ensure their operating effectiveness.
  • Month-End Close: Manage and support month-end close adhering to Corporate specified deadlines, ensuring timely and complete reconciliations.
  • VAT Returns: Prepare or work with third-party advisors on timely submissions of EU VAT & Intrastat returns, EU Sales Lists for The Netherlands and EU regions.
  • Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile Fender Sales BV inventory balances and carry out regular stock counts.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Support the preparation of intercompany transactions & balance reconciliations and agree with related parties with support of documentary evidence, where applicable.
  • Statutory Accounts: Support and prepare information ensuring timely submissions of annual Dutch & EU Branch statutory accounts.
  • Tax Submissions: Support and prepare information ensuring timely submission of corporate income tax submissions and payments for the Dutch entity and its EU Branches, where applicable.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Support multi-currency bank reconciliations.
  • Environmental Tax Returns: Support Fender BV's logistics department with submission of environmental tax returns.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Provide further ad hoc support to wider Finance Managers and Financial Controller where required.
  • Process Improvements: Identify approved process improvements and implement them once approved.
  • Holiday Cover: Provide holiday cover for finance manager.
  • Accounts Payable Team: Support EMEA accounts payable team.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:
  • Accounting Qualification: Part qualified/qualified accountant, AAT, ACA or ACCA equivalent.
  • Experience: Ideally candidates will have 1-2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Statutory Reporting: Practical experience of statutory and fiscal reporting for medium sized companies.
  • Journal Entries: Hands-on experience of processing journal entries with accompanying support and reconciliations.
  • VAT Returns: Practical experience of preparing EU VAT returns.
  • Excel Skills: Strong Excel skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail.
  • Time Management: Deadline driven with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Proactivity: Proactive.
  • Multitasking: Multi-tasking, flexible and adaptable.
  • Pace: Ability to work at pace.

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:
  • SAP Knowledge: SAP Knowledge.
  • Intercompany Accounting: Prior experience of intercompany accounting.
  • FX and Multi-Currency Accounting: Exposure to FX and multi-currency accounting.
  • EU VAT and Intrastat: Knowledge/Experience of EU VAT, Intrastat & EU Sales Listing.
  • GAAP Knowledge: Knowledge of US/IFRS GAAP.
  • Additional Language Skills: Additional European language skills.
