The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Wintel Systems Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. You will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing Wintel-based systems, supporting our cloud initiatives, and ensuring the security and availability of our critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and manage Windows Server based environments.
- Knowledge of VMWare Infrastructure configuration.
- Monitor and maintain system performance, ensuring optimal uptime and availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within the Windows environment.
- Ensure security and vulnerability management is a core function
Citrix NetScaler Administration:
- Configure, maintain, and optimize our Citrix NetScaler Infrastructure for load balancing, Content Switching, GSLB, and security operations.
- Manage Citrix NetScaler policies, upgrades, and patches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve NetScaler issues, ensuring seamless uptime of applications.
Cloud Infrastructure (AWS and Azure):
- Confidently design, manage, and optimize services in our Azure environment adhering to Landing Zone Principles.
- Knowledge of Entra AD and Microsoft 365 platforms desirable.
- Skilled in transitioning existing on-prem workloads to the cloud where feasible.
- Implement and manage Cloud infrastructure using IaC tools Cloud formation, Terraform or Ansible
- Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement cloud-based solutions.
SSL Certificate Management:
- Manage the lifecycle of SSL certificates; from procurement all the way to revocation.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices for SSL certificates.
- Troubleshoot SSL-related issues across various systems and services.
DNS Management:
- Configure, manage, and maintain DNS records and services.
- Ensure DNS services are secure, reliable, and efficient.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain security best practices across Wintel, Citrix, DNS, Certificate and cloud environments.
- Ensure systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments and confidently mitigate these issues within agreed timelines.
Documentation and Collaboration:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for all systems and processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including networking, security, and development teams, to support infrastructure needs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Wintel Systems Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong experience with Citrix NetScaler configuration and management.
- Hands-on experience with SSL certificate management.
- Proficient in DNS management and troubleshooting.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms focused in AWS and Azure.
Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of Windows Server environments (up to Server 2022).
- Proficiency in Citrix NetScaler, including load balancing, VPN, and application delivery.
- Solid knowledge of SSL/TLS protocols and certificate management.
- Strong DNS management skills, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Intense experience with AWS and Azure cloud services; including (but not limited to) Azure Landing Zone, Entra AD, M365, CloudFront, CloudFormation, IAM, Route53.
- Understanding of networking principles, firewalls, and security best practices.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server and/or Azure certifications.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
- Citrix Certified Associate or equivalent.
