Reporting to the SVP Finance and located in Dublin, the position of AVP / VP Finance is a key member of the Finance team. Our Finance team delivers accurate, timely and efficient financial reporting to the business, shareholders and other stakeholders. To achieve these outputs, the Finance team work closely with the business and shareholder support functions. All outputs are prepared in a controlled environment and include (i) monthly management accounts, (ii) monthly group reporting packs, (iii) quarterly financial statements (iv) quarterly “Management Discussion and Analyses” and (v) cost control analysis. Finance also manage the relationships with auditors and professional financial advisory firms and monitor and test the impact of potential changes in accounting standards.
This vacancy for an AVP Finance on our Finance team is on a 18-month contract basis. You will have a wide variety of responsibilities including specific responsibility for key accounting areas, as well as a role in the coordination of annual financial reporting for SPV entities.
You have the opportunity to join our Finance team to support the achievement of our business strategy and to work closely with our leasing and trading business, to develop your commercial acumen and oversee all accounting aspects of our aircraft transactions. This role represents a unique opportunity for candidates with vision, energy and ambition to also contribute to the rest of the Finance team, while working within a multi‑disciplinary organisation.
Overall, in addition to having an opportunity to work with the many core disciplines within SMBC AC, the role provides an excellent perspective from which to see and understand all aspects of our business.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to monthly reporting to Senior Management & Shareholders, and assist annual audit & statutory SPV reporting and Bond Investor Reporting
- Provide input and technical accounting advice on transactions (including discussion and debate with management, shareholders and auditors)
- Perform reviews and reconciliations for key balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly basis, in accordance with the internal controls framework
- Process leasing transactions to ensure they are recorded appropriately in the relevant systems
- Liaise with and support commercial and other teams to enable the execution of a broad range of transactions
- Process documentation and improvement
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant honours degree together with a recognised accountancy qualification
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in the preparation and reporting of financial statements under IFRS
- Proven track record working in a fast‑paced, dynamic, service‑orientated environment
- Knowledge of the aviation industry, aircraft leasing or asset management advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, PowerPoint & Word
