DUBLIN ZOO holds the prestigious position of being one of Ireland’s top Family Attractions for nearly 200 years.

The plants in Dublin Zoo are an essential part of the landscape, simulating the habitat of various animals, and providing an immersion experience for our visitors - a journey to discover realistic settings of particular habitats.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Horticulturalist to join our Horticultural team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and expertise in the Horticultural field to enhance the services provided by the Zoo. The position involves maintaining the green appearance of Dublin Zoo, ensuring a wide variety of plants and their good condition.

Demands on the Horticulture Team vary from poisonous plant problems, soil compaction issues, visitor questions to providing stimulating items for the education team, apart from the demands of maintaining and developing a very diverse range of plants.

The job involves regular activities such as planting, pruning, weed killing, monitoring plants, and using necessary machinery.

1. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of general gardening techniques, especially weeding and pruning.
2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a medium to large size garden.
3. Horticultural qualification or other relevant education.
4. Full Driving License.
5. Punctual in attendance, positive attitude, motivated, fast worker.
6. Demonstrated passion for horticultural/gardening practices.
7. Able to work as part of a team.
8. Experience working in another zoological garden or similar garden to Dublin Zoo.
9. Experience using machinery with the associated licenses.
