Junior Health & Safety Assistant

Are you a recent graduate, passionate about health and safety & ready to kickstart your career in a supportive and dynamic environment? We are hiring for a Health & Safety Assistant for one of our well-known clients in the Production Industry, based in Naas, Co. Kildare.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will be part of a dedicated team of three to four professionals, including another Health & Safety Assistant. This role does not involve direct reports but offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, managers, and employees to ensure a safe working environment for all.

Location: Naas, Co. Kildare
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent role
Salary: €33,000 - €35,000 DOE
Hours of Work: 8am-4:30pm

Key Responsibilities:


Promote a culture of health and safety by managing a robust near-miss and hazard reporting system.
Conduct regular safety inspections, prepare detailed reports, and implement corrective and preventative measures.
Identify and address safety training needs, ensure timely delivery of mandatory training, and maintain accurate training records.
Develop and distribute engaging safety communications, including toolbox talks and safety alerts.
Oversee emergency preparedness arrangements for fire safety, chemical safety, and work-related vehicles.
Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near-misses promptly, ensuring corrective actions are implemented without delay.
Regularly review and update risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and the company’s Safety Statement.
Assist in the Contractor Management Programme, including training, documentation review, and compliance audits.
Prepare weekly management reports to highlight trends and opportunities for improvement.


What We’re Looking For:


A Diploma in Health and Safety is required.
A minimum of 6 months relevant experience is also required.
Certifications as a Manual Handling Instructor, Train the Trainer, and Occupational First Aider is advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and report-writing abilities.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Confidence to consult with managers and enforce compliance when necessary.
