We currently have an excellent new opportunity for an experienced Machine Programmer/Operator with long established, Shannon, Co. Clare based multinational precision Engineering client. Position will be offered on an initial 6 month contract with very attractive salary and significant opportunity for the long term. The Position Working in a customer focused, continuous improvement environment, plans and performs work of any complexity within the capability of a broad range of Conventional, NC and CNC equipment and associated tooling in the manufacture of the complete range of cylindrical thread rolling dies. The Responsibilities Self-motivated and with limited direction and supervision, work to drawings, sketches, process sheets, verbal or written instructions, set-up and operate equipment to produce components from start operation through to completion which meets the customers requirements. Partake in machine programming including downloading, manual data input, debugging and editing. Plan and organize own work to facilitate mutli-machine manning including operating own machine(s) and monitoring additional machine(s) through breaks where industrial engineering deems this feasible. Perform ancillary tasks within the equipment cycle such as checking, measuring, setting gauges, counting, deburring, stamping, etching, polishing and pre-setting for the next jobs. Where it is not possible to perform these tasks within the machine cycle, perform them immediately following the machining of a component so as to reduce queue time. Will also perform these ancillary tasks from, or for other operators. Establish and report the correct quantity of pieces completed, identify quantity variances and move to next operation/facility within or occasionally outside the Dept. Operate any equipment within or external to the department as instructed by the lead men or supervision, in the manufacture of products as defined above. Help out in other departments or carry out work for other departments in situations such as fluctuations in workload, equipment breakdown, or manning shortages. Be conscious of a changing business environment and participate in the implementation of new work practices and systems such as Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement Programmes, Safety Programmes, etc. Make recommendations to supervision and Engineering where appropriate. Record information, either written or by computer inputs as necessary for the efficient running of the business or as dictated by customers. Attend meetings as requested by supervision/management and actively partake in assisting and training of others. Carry out acceptance tests on new/rebuilt equipment. Participate in visits to customers to solve tooling application problems. Carry out routine basic maintenance; maintain the equipment and the work area in a clean and tidy manner. Be proactive in promoting a safe working environment by wearing the PPE provided and identifying safety hazards to management.
