Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest Irish owned consultants with centres of excellence in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment and Renewables. FT provides design and contract management services for the construction of infrastructure projects such as roads, greenways, bridgeworks, rail, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, drainage, water and wastewater treatment facilities, airports, tunnels and gas pipelines.

FT is seeking to recruit a Senior Project Engineer (Highways/Active Travel) to join our Sustainable Infrastructure team in one of our offices in Cork, Dublin or Carlow. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have at least 5 years experience in the design and delivery of highways, greenways and active travel projects.

The successful candidate will join an established company and will have the opportunity to broaden their existing range of skills and experiences. This position offers exposure to a number of project types within the company, including the delivery of national roads, greenway and active travel projects and major highways design and build schemes. FT offers the successful candidate a clear path for career development to a Senior Engineer role. The successful candidate will also be provided with opportunities to participate in our Path to Chartership Programme and Mentorship Programme.

FT's Responsibilities

1. Design of highways, active travel, and greenways projects
2. Take responsibility for preparation of designs and reports at all stages of a project lifecycle.
3. Working closely with other Engineers, Ecologists and Environmental Scientists within the Company
4. Planning and managing design deliverables, working closely with the CAD team.
5. Participate in client and stakeholder meetings.
6. Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems
7. Ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation
8. Takes ownership of issues and seek team participation to achieve best solution.

Skills / Qualifications

1. Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
2. 5 years post-graduate experience in the design of highways, greenway or active travel projects
3. Working towards achieving Chartered Engineer status
4. Solid understanding of the requirements of design standards including TII, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual
5. Strong communication and technical report writing skills
6. Experience in the preparation of technical reports as per the requirements of TII Project Appraisal Guidelines and/or NTA Project Approval Guidelines is a plus
7. High level of proficiency in the use of AutoCAD
8. Proficiency in the use of Civil 3D is a plus
9. Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of team and on own initiative
10. The ability to adopt and work to new procedures and systems quickly
11. Must be prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings
12. Full Drivers Licence
