Job Title: Head of Global Asset Care & Capex

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

About Ornua:

Ornua is a leading dairy co-operative which sells premium dairy products globally on behalf of its Member Co-operatives, Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers.

Ornua has revenues of €3.4 billion and is supported by a global team of approximately 2,800 employees. The Group operates as a commercial organisation across 10 business units, including 12 production facilities located in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.

The commercial organisation is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Ireland’s most successful food export: Kerrygold. Consumer markets are served by production facilities in Ireland, Germany and the UK and by in-market Sales & Marketing Teams in Asia, Germany, Ireland, MEA, Poland, Spain, rest of Europe and North and Latin America.

It also manages the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers globally, and the implementation of de-risking and trading strategies to manage market volatility. These activities are supported by production facilities and in-market teams in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.

The Role

A newly created role on the Global Operations Leadership Team. The successful candidate will have responsibility for Global Asset Care & Capital Expenditure projects across the Ornua group. This role is responsible for global maintenance and capital project execution, underpinned by enabling technology and strong programme management. This role will have team members based in Dublin and in each of the Ornua production facilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Create and lead the Global Asset Care & Capex team, ultimately creating a centre of excellence aligned to industry best in class practices and performance criteria

- Define and deliver the strategic roadmap for Global Asset Care & Capex, as a key pillar of the COO strategy, ensuring alignment with Ornua’s global commercial objectives and capital investment decisions.

- Devise the overall global maintenance strategy and local implementation solutions to ensure its successful deployment and effectiveness.

- Manage all Capital Project execution across the organisation, underpinned by strong PMO support; for e.g.: new factory build/expansion, new production lines, decommissioning of lines/factories, reconfiguration.

- Manage relationships and vendor partnerships / OEMs etc supplying materials and services for all Group Capital Projects

- Ensure the right technology architecture is deployed internally and via OEM partnerships to ensure the effectiveness of our manufacturing infrastructure – fully aligned to our digital first ambitions

- Play a key role as a member of the new Global Operations Leadership Team, providing input into strategic decisions for the COO organisation.

- Lead and develop the Global Asset Care & Capex Team, fostering a high-performance culture.

Key Requirements

- 15+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience, some of which should be within the Food/Dairy sector.

- A technical expert and engineering leader with capability to develop progressive and ambitious plans for the Global Asset Care & Capex team.

- Excellent programme management skills and a data driven approach to decision making, with a strong focus on delivering results in line with clear KPIs.

- Track record of demonstrating an enterprise-wide and challenger mindset to drive progress and deliver on key projects.

- Ability to thrive in our co-operative environment where there is a strong emphasis on building strong stakeholder relationships within a nuanced, relationship-driven, internal structure.

- Excellent people leadership skills and associated track-record, with a clear commitment to working inclusively, developing talent and building future leaders.
