Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Data Center Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.

Data Center Operations designs, installs and maintains the world's largest Computing Infrastructure. Our scope of work includes systems, repairing, dealing with issues, handling and tracking parts and assisting in Data Center maintenance. Amazon Data Centers are large-scale high-density centers where you will help change the face of Technology in the region.

Key job responsibilities

In this role as a Data Center Operations Technician, you will be responsible for the on-site management of hardware lifecycle of our IT infrastructure that includes:

1. Troubleshooting technical issues on advanced hardware, ranging from servers, storage and networking devices so they operate on a 24/7 basis.
2. Maintaining a high level of system reliability and availability.
3. Participating in projects to enhance operational efficiencies with opportunities to share experiences and knowledge with our global network of technical experts.
4. Sharing knowledge and helping train less technical staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues.
5. Contributing towards building a great team by getting involved in the Amazon hiring process/candidate interviews.
6. Working and meeting SLAs against assigned trouble tickets via a directed workflow, being the first line touch point for hardware troubleshooting and technical issues.
7. Performing on-call duties and participating in Data Center operations, handling scheduled maintenance and change management activities that require monitoring of the data center infrastructure.
8. Participating in team meetings for metric analysis and to discuss achieving daily/weekly goals.
9. Having knowledge of the policies and procedures, including safety and security, within your department, and understanding the appropriate application of such knowledge.
10. Contributing to documentation on technical issues through root cause analysis for operational issues that occur, and contributing to process improvement initiatives relevant to the data center environment.
11. Assisting in training less experienced members of the team.

A day in the life

1. Supporting DC (Data Center) infrastructure equipment (e.g. racks, servers, networking devices, hardware components, cables, etc.).
2. Following the instructions in a ticket-based environment and working on systematic problem resolution and performing routine operation activities on hardware, or spare parts, including rack install, server break/fix, rack decom etc.
3. Performing on-call duties and participating in Data Center operations, handling scheduled maintenance and change management activities that require monitoring of the data center infrastructure.
4. Showing a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
5. Being involved with site management and maintaining tidiness in operation areas.
6. Covering 24x7 shift rotation.

Minimum Requirements

- 5+ years of Server Hardware and network fiber hands-on experiences required.
- Experience in Network troubleshooting, Optical Fiber Cabling, Switches and Routers.
- Comfortable acting as escalation and strong communication skills.
- Linux certification and/or administration experience - RHCSA/RHCE, LPIC, Linux+
- Networking certification - CCENT/CCNA, Network+
- Scripting skills – e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash
- Server+, A+, CompTIA
