Store Director – Hardware & Building Supplies | Co. Carlow

Here at Osborne Recruitment, we’re looking for a Store Director, who is as comfortable leading from the front as they are behind the trade counter. This role is perfect for someone who knows the hardware and construction supplies sector inside out, thrives on driving commercial success and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves when the job needs doing.

The Role – What You’ll Do:


Take full ownership of day-to-day store operations, sales performance and profitability.
Lead and inspire a dedicated team — setting clear goals, supporting growth and building a strong, motivated culture.
Price and quote competitively for trade and large project accounts, ensuring margins and service stay sharp.
Oversee stock, purchasing and supplier relationships to maintain efficiency and reliability.
Drive strategic growth, modernise operations and deliver sustainable improvements in performance.
Represent the business with customers, suppliers and ownership — acting as the key link across all areas.



What You’ll Bring:


Proven leadership in retail, B2B, or distribution.
Proven experience leading in the hardware, builders’ merchants or construction supplies sector.
Strong commercial instincts — from pricing and purchasing to managing P&L.
A genuine hands-on leadership style — just as confident making key decisions as you are serving on the counter when needed.
Ability to manage change, streamline operations and implement new ideas that drive results.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, people-first mindset.
