St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule Dublin is seeking to fill the position of a part-time Head Chef of the school canteen. We offer a responsible, varied position in an international environment with a pleasant working atmosphere, flat hierarchies and opportunities for personal development. The role of Head Chef will include but is not limited to:
- Oversee and manage the day to day running of the school kitchen.
- Supervision and preparation of breakfast and lunch for Secondary school and lunch for Primary school.
- To conduct audits (incl. but not limited to food quality, recording of correct temperatures, cleanliness of kitchen, maintenance, HACCP etc.) in the kitchen and ensure hygiene standards and compliance with current regulations.
- To ensure that all stocks are ordered to the correct quantities, quality and price and stored correctly.
- Planning and costing of menus to provide a balanced and nutritious diet
- Ensure that all expenses are within budgeted limits.
- Accurate management of daily register and preparation of weekly financial summaries.
- Awareness of allergen requirements, labelling, and safe storage/preparation of food to prevent allergic reactions among students.
Work experience and special aptitudes:
- Formally trained chef
- Experience in similar roles
- Ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team
- Very good level of English required
- Friendly, approachable, and an effective communicator
We are looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible. This is a part-time position, Monday to Thursday, from 07:00 to 15:30. There is a very limited requirement to work on some Saturdays or evenings during the year. Holidays are in accordance with the school calendar, so the successful candidate will not be required to work during school breaks. We will offer a salary to match the candidates experience.
