Solicitor Services Executive

The successful candidate will work as a key member of the Solicitor Services team and have responsibility for the development and delivery of practice supports to sole practitioner and small firms as required by the Law Society Strategic Objectives 2024–2028.
The person appointed will be employed within the Director General's office and they will report to the Head of Solicitor Services.
A minimum of 5 years' experience/knowledge of the solicitors' profession is required. The Solicitors Services Executive position is based in Blackhall Place in Dublin 7, attendance in person at the Law Society to participate fully in team planning, solicitor services event coordination and delivery and other purposes as required. Events can occasionally occur after 5pm and at weekends.
Main Duties & Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the Law Society's standards and strategic objectives and as directed by the Head of Solicitor Services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business supports & development
1. Assist in the ongoing implementation of the Law Society's 2024-2028 strategy.
2. Implementation and ongoing management of the legal Services Excellence Standard business support initiative.
3. Act as Secretary to the Legal Services Excellence Standard Accreditation Committee.
4. Establish an expert panel of solicitors to provide advice on practice issues.
5. Investigate grant supports available to small practices and develop appropriate guidance.
6. Establish a process to regularly review and evaluate practice supports and services offered by the Law Society Solicitor Services.
7. Complete a review of current business supports available for smaller practice owners, identify where there may be gaps and opportunities for improvement.
8. Develop a suite of supports which will support sole practitioners and smaller firms throughout the lifecycle of small practice such as but not limited to:
1. A Start-Up Toolkit for establishing a practice
2. Retirement and Succession Planning supports
3. A locum register
4. Tools to assist with information technology development
5. Supports and checklists to assist practitioners with compliance and regulatory matters
6. Supports and checklists to assist with complaints from the LSRA
10. Develop an online practice network and seek to further collaborate with external bodies and professional bodies such as LEO/ SME Networks/ SFA/ Chamber of Commerce/ local authorities to build networks.
2. Information and Guidance
1. Create relevant practice support content for the Law Society's eNewsletters, website and other publications as required under the guidance of the Solicitors Services Engagement and Communications strategy.
2. Manage and regularly update content on the practice support sections on lawsociety.ie.
3. Responsibility for responding to practice-related queries received through the Solicitors Services shared mailbox in a timely manner.
3. Engagement & collaboration
1. Create opportunities & initiatives that promote the value of small practices including attending regional cluster events and Bar Associations.
2. Represent and support Solicitors Services team brand and engagement and relationships objectives.
3. Active contribution to general Law Society activity such as events and communications.
4. Other tasks relating to the role as required.
4. Reporting
1. Produce high quality reports and communication materials relating to the area of practice supports.
2. Liaise with other Departments and Committees internally to progress initiatives.
3. Work as part of the solicitor services team and provide support to the Head of Solicitor Services as and when required.
Knowledge & Skills
The successful candidate will have:
1. At least five years of professional experience in a legal environment.
2. Proven record of developing and project-managing professional services such as member supports and/or member communication initiatives.
3. Good understanding of how small enterprises and legal practices in particular - are effectively managed and developed.
4. Experience in creating content and writing and publishing articles.
5. Excellent writing ability and attention to detail.
6. A creative, innovative, and initiative-taking approach to working within a dynamic team.
7. Effective communication and organisational ability with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
8. Ability to influence stakeholders in the Law Society and in the wider legal community to work towards common goals.
9. Project Management knowledge an advantage.
10. An adaptable approach to work and an ability to work well as part of a collaborative team is essential – this role is team based.
11. Approachable and demonstrating a collegial manner in all dealings.
12. A proven record of commitment to professional and client service excellence.
